HEART-MET Physically Assistive Robot Challenge. ICRA 2023
The ICRA 2023 METRICS HEART-MET Physically Assistive Robot Challenge took place at ExCeL London from May 29th to June 1st, 2023.
In this challenge, an assistive robot is tasked with fetching an item for a person in a home. The robot approaches two people and asks what it can fetch for them. After understanding what they say through speech and/or gesture recognition, it fetches the item and and hands it over to them. During the run, the volunteers score the robot on its social acceptability, for example, how appropriately it interrupts them, distance it keeps from people, communicating intentions, not surprising people while approaching, etc. The overall score is the average of the technical and social acceptance score.
